Exceptionally fine US Springfield Model 1847 cavalry musketoon; very scarce with only an estimated 5800 produced. Dated 1853 on lock and barrel tang. "VP" with Eagle inspection at chamber. Traditional Springfield lock markings with Eagle and "US" underneath. One piece walnut stock with brass furniture and long saddle ring bar and rig for cavalry use. Rammer affixed with swivel system for ,mounted use. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine original and uncleaned condition with very fine wood stocks with light cartouche on left side. Mechanically excellent. Bore is very fine with older grease inside. A superb example and rarely found.
