Arguably the finest single shot rifle ever produced by Remington. These were special order target rifles. This example features a 32" octagon-to-round barrel. The caliber is stamped at base of barrel as "44-100". The Remington legend is stamped on top barrel flat. Features the finely blued barrel, case color frame, hammer, trigger guard and lower tang, nose cap, and buttplate. The walnut stock features the checkered pistol grip with horn insert along with a matching checkered forearm. Blued long range tang sight and spirit lever front sight, with no provision for a rear barrel mounted sight. These sights are more modern, probably Axtel given the quality. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame and other case color parts retain at least 90% mostly bright color as does the nose cap, while the buttplate retains approximately 40-50%. The barrel retains nearly all of its bright blue with exception to the top flat which shows some wear, having turned a soft patina for most of the length of the upper flat. The stock is excellent with sharp checkering but there is a repair at top of comb where the heel tang sight was once fitted. There is also a small toe repair where some finish was added. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. Weight: 9lbs. 5 oz.
