Approximately 22,000 made at the Springfield Armory 1870-71 under agreement with Remington. These were ordered for the U.S. Navy as evidenced by the anchor at barrel breech and inspector stamped "P / H.B.R." for Henry Bellows Robeson. Features two bands, under barrel bayonet lug, post front sight, folding ladder rear sight, metal ramrod. Right side of frame is stamped "US SPRINGFIELD 1870" with eagle. Walnut stock with near full length forearm and swivels. CONDITION: Very good. Metal is now a smooth homogenous brown patina with sharp legends. Stocks are excellent with minor dings. Bore is well defined with light abrasion.
