This example is dated 1847 at rear of lock with "US H. ASTON MIDDtn CONN". Left side of barrel is stamped "US" and "NWP" proof for Nahum W. Patch along with "P". Left side of stock has two bold cartouche stamps of "LM", unknown, along with the "WAT" stamp for William A. Thornton. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel shows scattered age freckles. Lock and hammer are dull gun metal grey. Brass is toned. Stock is excellent with usual minor impressions. Legends are sharp with exception to Aston stamp which is visible but thinning. Action works and the bore shows residue but fairly clean.
