This is a transition gun as the lock is dated 1850 with maker and US. The tang is dated 1851. Left side of barrel is stamped JH for Joseph Hannis with proof P. Left side of stock has cartouche inspector stamps WAT for William Thornton along with the JH. Features iron hardware with brass furniture, small brass front sight blade and swivel rod. CONDITION: Very good. Stock shows some wear and finish loss. Iron is turning patina. Brass is toned. Lock legends are a bit soft. Mechanically sound.
