(A) US MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION PISTOL BY H. ASTON.

Approximately 6,000 made from 1851 through 1852 in Middletown, Connecticut. This example is dated 1852 on lock and tang. Stamped with maker and US on lock with WN for Walter North inspector stamp on barrel with US and P. Left side of stock has a WAT inspector stamp a for William A. Thornton along with the WN. Features the swivel ramrod and a small brass front sight blade. Iron hardware with brass furniture. CONDITION: Very good. Stock exhibits a few light cracks. Hardware shows some light age freckles and is a grey patina. Brass is nicely toned. Legends are strong. Mechanically sound with a fairly clean bore. This was weapon was used by the Dragoons early in the Civil War. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
