Approximately 10,000 of these were produced by Johnson from 1853 through 1855. Back of lock is dated 1855 with "MIDDtn CONN". Center is stamped "IN Johnson US". Features the single brass barrel band, swivel ramrod, one piece walnut stock, brass trigger guard, and straps. Barrel stamps are illegible due to the salt and pepper texture of the barrel finish. CONDITION: Good. Lock has been cleaned and all legends are legible but faint. Barrel shows some wiped on finish. Brass has been cleaned. Stock has been freshened and shows sundry impressions. Hammer does not stay cocked. The bore shows abrasions. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
