(A) W.L. EVANS MODEL 1816 FLINLOCK MUSKET DATED 1826.
Manufactured at Valley Forge. Of standard configuration with walnut stock and iron mounts. Clear "EJ" inspector's cartouche behind sideplate. Buttplate tang marked "US", lock marked "W.L. EVENS [sic] / V. FORGE / 1826". CONDITION: Barrel has heavy pitting, especially at breech from percussion corrosion. Lock is a reconversion to flint and has mostly dark patina with excellent markings. Iron mounts pitted. Stock with scattered denting, cracks and marks from use. Ramrod replaced.
