30" browned Damascus twist barrels with brass bead front sight, concave tapered game rib engraved with "Westley Richards, 170 New Bond St, London" and "2", indicating that this was once part of a set. Doll's head rib extension. Extractors retained by a screw. Action flats with diagnostic proofs and W.R. GM stamp. Forend with case colored Deely release and interior, ebony tip, and a well executed but quite visible splice at base of release. Two pieces of wood have been fitted as well to contact barrels on interior. Locks engraved with woodcocks in flight on right, presumably being chased by the dog depicted in vignette at rear, separated by scroll; left side with covey of pheasants with another vignetted dog at rear and scroll. Dolphin form hammers engraved with scroll and fish motifs on hammers. Very small dovetailed piece of metal visible at locks indicating conversion from pinfire, hammers also converted from pinfire by grinding off a section of cock to contact hammers. Release lever engraved with scroll and "2", further indicating origin as a part of a pair. Tang, trigger guard, and finial engraved with scroll and border engraving, one screw missing. Straight grip stock with vacant silver escutcheon along belly. Case colored buttplate with engraving en suite around screws. CONDITION: Fine as professionally restored. Barrels retain the vast majority of their original brown, with nice shadowing around proofs. Forearm, locks, and buttplate with reapplied case colors over some light pitting. Wood has been sanded and revarnished with splice repairs visible at right side of forearm and tang, otherwise excellent with a few minor marks. Action works appropriately by operated by hand, bores are excellent, bright and shiny, with some light pitting; release does not quite return to center. EW
