Massive octagon barreled fullstock Kentucky rifle stamped "W. HENRY LANCASTER" on top barrel flat. 1-3/4" wide butt curly maple full stock with Lancaster style patchbox and toe release. Massive 50-5/8" long barrel with deep rifling and .60 caliber. Lancaster style sideplate and trigger guard. Huge faceted brass ramrod pipes holding a large hardwood ramrod with hidden worm attachment in tip. Flat iron barrel keys with barrel having rifle sights. Lancaster style sideplate holding an early style handmade lock with a tipped rear controlled by a single trigger. Consignor has paperwork indicating possible manufacture for use by colonial troops in the Revolution. CONDITION: Rifle has aged patina on metal parts with unpolished brass having a golden patina. Lid on patchbox has small dent. Lock is possible replacement with gun never converted. Wood has excellent original finish with no visible restoration and light handling and usage marks. Mechanics are good. A very interesting rifle. DLM2019
