(A) WINCHESTER THIRD MODEL 1873 .44-40 LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE
Dates to 1884. Standard features to include full length magazine tube, pinned blade post front sight, folding ladder carbine rear sight, saddle ring stud, and walnut stock and forearm. Missing saddle ring and buttplate. CONDITION: Very good. All metal retains nearly all of the expertly reapplied blue finish and barrel retains sharp legends. The rear stock is newly replaced and fitted but not finished and is still proud to metal for final fitting. Forearm shows finish but also needs proper fitting. Rear barrel band screw is missing. Mechanically sound with a strong rifled bore showing minor abrasion. With a little work, this should be quite a nice carbine and in the most popular caliber.
