Circa 1927 for guns (A) & (B), and circa 1936 for gun (C). The English made sidelock 12 bore game guns with 2 - 1/2" chambers have dovetail 28" blacked steel barrels with rib extensions that are fit with ejectors, tapered, smooth, concave game ribs and steel bead front sights. The ribs are roll marked "CHARLES HELLIS & SONS LTD 121 & 123 EDGWARE ROAD. HYDE PARK. LONDON. W." along with gold inlaid star and either "1", "2" or "3". The barrel flats have Birmingham nitro proof marks and the bottom of the right barrels have the gun's serial numbers. The (A/1) gun is choked Full and Improved Cylinder while both the (B/2) and (C/3) guns are choked Full & Full. The coin finished action bodies are engraved with scrolls, lockplates engraved with vignettes of 2 feathers joined by a banner at their stems inside a shield along with "C. HELLIS & SONS" in a banner and fire blued screw heads, and a few pins. The sidelock actions are fit with double triggers, third fasteners, blacked, engraved, checkered thumb pieces, and blacked, checkered, and scroll engraved safe slides. Guns are auto-safe. Top levers are numbered "1","2" and "3" in gold. "SAFE" is in gold. Dark European walnut stocks with drop points, tight sharp checkering on English straight hand grips are also fit with vacant silver ovals and orange rubber pads. Triggers are protected by blacked trigger guards with scroll engraving and with vignettes of 2 feathers joined by a banner at their stems inside a shield at bow. Guns with long black scroll engraved bottom straps with their appropriate serial numbers. Splinter forends with matched tight checkering have scroll engraved diamond shaped pins, engraved scroll exterior iron metal. Escutcheons are scroll engraved and are numbered "1","2", and "3" in gold. All are fit with Anson push button releases. Interior forend iron metal is blacked and each with their own serial numbers stamped. Guns all reside in their leather trio travel trunk case. Case with Charles Hellis & Sons Black and gold leather trade label. CONDITION: Very good. Replacement barrels dating from the early 1960s for guns (A) and (B) and the 1940s for gun (C) . All barrels with light handling marks and rub marks from the forends and case. Triggers are crisp and ejectors are well timed. The stocks have handling/use marks; gun (B) buttstock's top plug is missing. The case is good as renovated. Nice trio.
