Originally designed for Germany in 1943 from a modified Model 400 and officially referred to as a Pistole Astra 600/43 and chambered for the standard 9mm cartridge. Approximately 40,000 of these pistols remained in Spanish inventory as the supply to Germany was severed in 1944. Most of these were purchased in 1951 for issue to the West German police. During the 1960's, the remaining inventory of these pistols were shipped to the United States for retail sales. This pistol shows no police special markings. It has the Astra circle logo stamped atop the barrel portion of slide. Left side of frame has the O date code for 1944 along with proof stamps X & P. The P stamp is the official Eibar Automatic Pistol Proof while the X stands for the year 1952 used for commercial and police issue. The barrel is stamped for the 9mm with P08. Pistol exhibits the commercial quality blue finish with checkered walnut grips and comes with one magazine. CONDITION: Excellent. Pistol retains at least 95% of its blue finish showing only light high edge wear and handling. Bore is bright.
