Per the included factory letter, this pistol shipped as a blued .45 ACP to Colt's Patent Firearms Mfg. Company, London Armory, 14 Pall Mall, London, on March 16th, 1915, in a shipment of 200. At some point, perhaps during the war, it was proofed and received by the British and subsequently refinished in the English tradition. Features a blued barrel with British proofs on the breech. The hammer is finely checkered with a wide spur. There are British proofs on the slide and frame. The pistol comes with a US marked holster, dated 1918. CONDITION: Fine pitting present on the right side of slide near muzzle. The roll marks are still clear, although the top of the Rampant Colt is weak due to the refinish. The blue has a thin spot on the front strap and mainspring housing. The bore is bright. The pistol is mechanically fine.
