Lot #1216:
(C) COLT BISLEY .38-40 SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER (1909)
Circa 1909. Classic configuration with blade front sight, notch rear sight, two line address information across top of barrel, Bisley and caliber designation on left side of barrel, two line patent date on left side of frame with encircled Rampant Colt behind, and distinct Bisley grip, wide hammer, and trigger. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, trigger guard, and butt. Unnumbered Colt gutta percha grips with embossed Rampant Colt at top. CONDITION: Very good as period refinished, retaining approximately half of that finish, with better retention in protected areas, with the balance a smooth mottled dove grey. Grips excellent, with softening of checkering and minor handling marks. Mechanically fine, albeit only with three clicks, bore with well-defined rifling and some frosting throughout.
