Lot #1331:
(C) DOCUMENTED FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER (1911).
Shipped March 9, 1911 to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Missouri as a shipment of 1 gun. Originally shipped in this configuration except for finish and grips. Finish is listed as originally being blue, the grips unlisted. More than likely shipped with rubber for this vintage of SAA and the mother of pearl grips dealer installed. Factory engraved with scroll on a punchdot background with accenting wrigglework on top of receiver, backstrap, and ejector rod housing. Loading gate and top of backstrap are engraved with sunbursts. Fit with a pair of mother of pearl grips. CONDITION: Very good. The vast majority of the added nickel finish remains with scattered light oxidation and handling marks. The added finish was applied during the period of use with little polishing evident. Grips are excellent with no major signs of distress. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is frosted with light oxidation and crisp rifling.
