Manufactured circa 1926 as numbered in the 92 range. Tapered blue nickel steel barrel with Lyman front sight and Marbles aperture rear tang sight, the rear dovetail filled in with a blank. An unmarked likely factory mounted Winchester A5 scope is fitted via offset grasshopper barrel mounts and is nicely engraved with the rifle's full matching serial number. Blued takedown frame. 2-piece straight grain walnut stocks with serrated steel butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains nearly all of its factory blue with some scattered marks. Frame also exhibits the vast majority of its factory blue with fine, characteristic flaking and some miscellaneous handling marks. Stocks are likewise fine with a few scattered impressions. A tiny sliver of wood is missing on the left side of the wrist along the top tang, with corresponding small split on the right side. Excellent, crisp mirror bore. Fine mechanics. Clear optics. A fantastic Model 53.
