Bead front sight vertically dovetailed into a matted solid rib with a horizontally dovetailed rear sight and supplanted by a set of claw scope mounts. Open vignette in matting reads "OTTO BOCK, BERLIN, W.8". Barrels with slot for Kersten lock. Left side of barrels with steel designation, and German nitro proofs for a 16 gauge over a centerfire .22 cartridge; the chamber is too large to be .22 Hornet, and it appears to be a necked rimmed cartridge. "539" proof for May, 1939 manufacture. Ejectors, and fit for a sling loop on island soldered to rifle barrel. Splinter forearm with point pattern checkering about a Deely latch release with light geometric engraving. Scalloped boxlock action with light engraving en suite with mixed floral and egg-and-dart dressed borders. Non-automatic safety with intaglio "S" ahead of slide. Double triggers, front set, with trigger guard engraved en suite. Fiddlebacked walnut stock built with sidepanels, a Prince of Wales grip, shadowline cheekpiece, and has a later sling bow on stud mounted to toe line. Later Pachmayr white line recoil pad. CONDITION: Barrels with the vast majority of their original blue, with heavy handling marks commensurate with time spent in the field. Some thinning and spots of silvering, heavier to right side. Stocks very good as carefully sanded and refinished with softness to checkering and edges throughout. Some handling marks and deep impressions. Action with traces of case colors, perhaps 10%, primarily to protected areas, such as around opening lever and trigger guard. Mechanically fine, bores good with firing residue, rifling is strong.
