German "JGA" Anschutz bolt action single shot rifle. Made in the interwar period with commercial "crown/N" proofs on the barrel receiver and bolt. Barrel marked "Original-JGA-Karabiner" on top and "Cal. 22 Long Rifle" on the side. Large "JGA" in an oval on the top of the chamber. Left side of the buttstock is marked "ALB. WITTIG/BRAUNSCHWEIG" in an oval. Blade front sight with U notch rear sight. Barrel and receiver have a commercial blued finish, while the bolt is left in the white. Wood stock with checkering at the wrist. Smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% its original finish with wear and handling marks. Light oil finish on the wood with minor handling marks and scratches. Bore is overall clean with a minor area of pitting near the muzzle. Mechanically fine. JWA
