This gun was made in Bayreuth, Bavaria. The barrels are stamped with maker and town. This gun features a scalloped box lock that is engraved with a deer on left side and a fox on right. The balance shows scroll to include trigger guard, tang as well as the cartridge trap door at base of stock. The oil finished walnut stock wears a straight comb, a roll over cheek piece, is finely checkered, pistol grip with sun burst black cap, a checkered horn butt plate, swivels, matching splinter forearm. The blue barrels feature claw mounts, full matted raised rib, pop up rear sight that engages when rifle barrel is selected by pushing forward on tang selector, a brass bead front and double triggers. Gun has matching numbers. The barrel flats are stamped Krupp, 3, 8 mm 72 ( caliber is 9x72 R), nitro proofed, and sundry German proofs. CONDITION: Fine. Receiver and guard are smooth gun metal. Stock is excellent with few handling marks, sharp checkering and a toe repair. The forearm checkering has thinned. Barrel retains about 85% blue that is thinning at breech as well as light handling. Action is tight. Shotgun bores are bright. Rifle bore is well defined but frosted.
