Lot #2248:
(C) PRE-WAR ENGRAVED THIEME & SCHLEGELMILCH NIMROD HAMMER DRILLING.
Carl Adolph Thieme and Heinrich Nicolaus Schlegelmilch Operated in Suhl Germany from around 1880 until through the early 1930's. This company was well known for their quality firearms but more importantly for their "Nimrod" action. (Nimrod-Nasenverschluss) The barrels are released forward for loading utilizing the lever. The top lever simply allows choice of barrel. There is also a release under the forearm. It features the side lock actions and exposed hammers, dual triggers, blued three barrel cluster, checkered straight comb pistol grip walnut stock with an engraved bullet trap at butt, black butt plate and grip cap, swivels and matching checkered forearm. The entire frame is beautifully engraved revealing four game scenes surrounded in Germanic oak leaf borders. The barrel breech is also engraved as is the trigger guard. The makers legends are located atop the barrels along with a full matted rib, small dovetailed front sight and a folding leaf rear sight. CONDITION: Fine. The barrels retains nearly all of the reapplied high polish blue finish exhibiting a few minor dents. All remaining metal is now a soft grey patina. The stocks are lovely with some rich dark grain. Mechanically sound with bright bores.
