(C) PRE-WWI NRA SALES SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1903 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.
Barrel is stamped 10-15 with SA and Ordnance bomb. Serial number corresponds with 1915 date. Finish is pre-War blue with all milled parts. The straight bolt has a Type II cocking piece. The Magazine cut off is block letter. The finely checkered butt plate with trap is a Type IV. The milled floor plate exhibits the NRA stamp with Ordnance bomb. Stock features the wide finger grooves, single bolt reinforcement, Type II. The high hump handguard is a Type II. The JSA cartouche on left side for J.S. Adams. Rifle sports a Lyman 48 receiver sight, a serrated trigger and all other standard features including the 2700 yard Type III rear sight. Between 1913 and 1916, the Director of Civilian Marksmanship offered these rifles to NRA members. There is no star gauge on end of barrel. CONDTION: Fine. Someone has professionally altered the original straight grip stock by fitting a C style pistol grip but stock remains in excellent as altered with minor impressions. Rifle retains the majority of its blue finish with exception to the floor plate and trigger guard which are patina. Mechanically sound. The ME reading is 2. Bore is well defined but lightly frosted.
