Factory letter indicates this revolver was shipped under British Government contract, caliber .455, delivered for shipping to Remington Arms, New York City, Agents for the British Government. It was shipped with a 6 - 1/2" barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut gold medallion grips. The gun was ordered a mere four months after their country entered the war (December 16th, 1914). The survival of these early examples, given the duration of the war, makes these high condition revolvers extremely difficult. They were built using the five screw, N frame, triple lock design, six shot, double action with case colored hammer and trigger. This revolver bears numerous British proof marks and matching serial numbers on barrel and cylinder. The excellent to near mint gold medallion diamond checkered grips are not numbered. Brilliant case colors on hammer and trigger. Hammer has been stippled. Revolver retains about 75-80% of it original high polish factory finish. Indexes and locks up fine with a clean bore. CORRECTION: Trigger is stippled not hammer
