Lot #1189:
(C) SCARCE JAPANESE BABY NAMBU 7MM SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER
An authentic and highly desirable Japanese Baby Nambu semi-automatic pistol, serial number 3276, placing it within the mid-production range circa the Taisho period (approximately mid-to-late 1910s) when these finely crafted pistols were manufactured in limited numbers for private purchase by Japanese officers. This example retains matching serial numbers on the frame and internal components, indicating a cohesive and original assembly. The left side of the frame is clearly marked with the correct vertical kanji inscription depicting “Nambu Type Automatic Pistol,” accompanied by small inspection characters applied during arsenal quality control. Notably, the pistol also bears a distinctive three-lobed arsenal or subcontractor stamp on the rear portion of the frame, a known production marking associated with early Tokyo Arsenal manufacture. The piece exhibits original finish with honest age-related wear, along with finely checkered wood grips and correct mechanical features throughout. Importantly, this example is accompanied by its original period holster, a scarce and highly sought-after accessory that significantly enhances both historical appeal and collector value. Overall, this is a well-preserved and fully representative example of a classic early Japanese automatic pistol.
