(C) SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN .45-70.
Dates to 1904. This lovely rifle features a scarce full tapered octagon barrel with the half magazine takedown, the blue finish, dovetailed German silver blade front sight, the long 2 1/2" folding ladder rear sight, walnut stock with checkered steel shotgun butt plate and a matching forearm. Tang is stamped Model 1886 and the barrel exhibits strong Winchester legends and caliber with PW proofs. CONDITION: Fine. The frame retains at least 50% bright blue perfectly blending with smooth patina. Bolt retains nearly all of its bright blue. Screws are still true with strong blue. Barrel retains most of its blue finish that has the patina bleeding through in a smooth homogenous blend. Edges still crisp. Stock is fine, exhibiting some nominal dings and dents. Mechanically sound with a strong bright bore with minor frosting. This is a great 86 in the best caliber.
