This pistol was part of the first shipment of automatic pistols sent to the United States military. Shipped in May-June of 1900 in serial range 11 to 207. This example ahs the original sight safety as sent. Left trigger bow is stamped "US". Features smooth walnut grips with left grip panel stamped "1900" and "JTT" inspector stamp in box (John T. The majority of these pistols were sent to the Philippines to test the performance of the first automatics to see service, and most were heavily used and abused. This pistols shows traces of original blue around grip. Has the early short rear slide serrations and round butt. Metal is clean. All legends are sharp. Excellent grips. Strong bore and action. Interesting gun in that it was part of the first shipment ever of this type of weapon that would become standard (1911) a decade later.
