Standard WWI US issue revolver that was built on the 5-screw square butt N-frame. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" is stamped at base of barrel. "US ARMY MODEL 1917" is stamped on butt. Matching serial number on frame, cylinder, and barrel. Left side of frame has eagle head S1 with ordnance bomb. There is an eagle head S22 & S24 on back of cylinder as well as eagle head S2 under barrel. There is a hand stamped S on base of one walnut grip panel. Standard features included fixed sights, blue finish, smooth two piece walnut grips, lanyard ring and case color hammer & trigger. CONDITION: Very good. The matching cylinder and yoke retains about 70% blue while balance of gun is a freckled and toned grey patina with some pitting on right side of barrel. This revolver had to have been cleaned of finish at one time to explain why so much blue is left on cylinder. Grips are very good. Action is fine. Bore is clean.
