(C) US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY KRAG MODEL 1898 .30-40 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

This rifle dates to 1902 with the bold JSA 1902 cartouche on left side at wrist and script "P". Rifle has the updated 1901 rear sight and hand guard; all else is standard issue. Comes with a US 1897 bayonet and metal scabbard. CONDITION: Fine. Metal retains majority of its blue that is beginning to dull and blending with some patina with exception to the trigger guard which retains about half the bright blue. The nitre blue on extractor is fading and the oil quenched frame is now a dark grey. Stock is excellent, sharp cartouche, with minor scattered dings. Mechanically sound with a well defined but frosted bore. Bayonet shows wear to scales.
