Dates to 1945, last year of the war. Standard WWII contract 1911 stamped with the Ithaca legend on left side of slide and US Property legends on right side of frame. Left side of frame has the FJA Frank Atwood inspector stamp along with a proof P. There is also a proof P atop the slide. The right side of frame has a Viet Nam war date stamp of 10-66 with P along with BA4. Left side of frame has a GAI import stamp. Standard features include the Keyes brown grips, serrated hammer, short checkered trigger, checkered safety, serrated slide stop and serrated arched main spring housing. Comes with one post war stamped magazine. The BA 4 stamp is the code used at the Anniston Army Depot who over hauled this pistol for Viet Nam issue in October of 1966. CONDITION: Very good. No original finish remains as gun has oxidized to a smooth grey patina. All legends are crisp. Mechanically sound retaining a bright bore with some frosting. Interesting gun that saw use in two wars.
