(C) WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE.
Classic Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine chambered for .44-40 (.44 WCF) with blue finish and appropriate gumwood stocks. Mounted with post and blade front sight with correct 2000 yard folding ladder adjustable carbine rear sight. Winchester 2 line barrel address with chamber marked "44WCF". Tang is marked "MODEL 1892 WINCHESTER TRADE MARK REG, U.S. PAT, OFF." Steel carbine buttplate with single forearm retaining band. The Winchester "92" made famous in Hollywood Cowboy films has always been the favorite companion carbine to the Colt Single Action of the same caliber. Manufactured in 1916 at a time of very limited production with many of these carbines sent abroad to the UK for the Home Defense of England to defend from possible German invasion. CONDITION: Very good with a brilliant and sharp bore. The barrel and magazine retain over 95% blue while the receiver has toned to dove grey as was common with this period of production. The gumwood stocks are good with some period of use bruises and a small shrinkage crack in the left side of the butt from being in a dry environment. Mechanically excellent with a sound and solid lock up. The classic American Cowboy carbine.
