Lot #1131:
(M) PRE-BAN VALMET M62/S 7.62X39MM SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE.
Essentially a semi-automatic civilian iteration of the Finnish RK62, where the Fins took the AK design and refined it to their typical high standards of fit and finish. Three prong flash hider with bayonet lug across bottom tongue, protected post two position front sight with flip-up tritium dot, two position rear sight with apertures marked "3" and "5" and a flip-up set of "ears" ahead of aperture, marked "4556" on left side of sight assembly. Ribbed and ventilated composite forearm, with wood pistol grip and buttstock, with two point leather sling affixed to bow at piston assembly and on stud at toe line. Valmet serrated composite buttplate. Typical Valmet legends and an Interarms import mark on right side of receiver. Installed metal magazine, accompanied by three additional polymer Valmet M92 magazines and a spare sling. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the factory finishes with some scattered handling marks and rubs, a few of which have silvered, primarily piston tube. Magazine and sling with heavier rubs and handling marks. Mechanically fine, bore with strong rifling and some mild frosting. A good example of the Finnish refinement of the AK, which also has the scarce wooden furniture.
