In 1946, Colt reintroduced the .38 Super to the commercial market, production having been halted during the war. When reintroduced it was touted with the new non-glare finish on the slide. Pistols from 1946 and 1947 displayed a conglomerate of pre-war and post-war parts. This early example features the Type II beveled rear sight, matte finish on top of slide and grip straps, post-war slide stop, pre-war checkered safety, war-era checkered hammer without spur, post-war short serrated trigger, grooved arched mainspring housing, World War II Keyes type brown plastic grips, and a pre-war two-tone magazine with distinct temper line, and high polish blue base stamped "COLT SUPER .38 AUTO". CONDITION: This pistol exhibits some high edge muzzle wear, otherwise near new condition inside and out, safely retaining 98% original early, post-war factory blue finish. Comes with extra all-blue post-war magazine. Extremely nice, high grade, early post-war Super in superb, all original factory condition.
