Lot #1147:
(M) RARE PRE-BAN SIG SAUER 550-1 SNIPER SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE WITH SCOPE AND CASE.
Introduced in 1989, these sniper rifles were developed with input from specialized Swiss police units, who purchased most of these rifles along with the Jordanian Palace Guard. This early example is numbered "130131" (131) and appears to be among the first batch of complete rifles imported into the US. It is estimated around 14 were imported at this time are not import marked. Rifle features a heavy matte finished barrel with recessed crown. Gray enamel finished receivers with Swiss "BP" proof and "SG 550-1 SNIPER" legend. Target trigger with plastic shoe. Furniture includes a ribbed black plastic forend with correct folding Parker Hale bipod, pebble textured pistol grip with hand stop, and the fully adjustable side folding stock. Importantly this rifle is fitted with the correct West German made Zeiss Diavari-Z 2.5-10x52mm scope with duplex reticle on the spring mount. Scope mount is marked with the full matching serial number of the rifle. Rifle is also matching numbers. Includes 8 total transparent magazines. Rifle is also accompanied by its correct "SIG" branded hard case with sling, mirage shield, and cleaning kit. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the factory finishes are retained with scattered handling marks and a small rub behind the ejection port from spent brass. Razor sharp, bright bore. Fine mechanics. Optic is clear although would benefit from a good cleaning. A fantastic example of a seldom seen, well accessorized Swiss sniper rifle.
