(M) RIGBY BIG GAME .416 RIGBY BOLT ACTION RIFLE WITH CASE.
Brass bead front sight on island sleeved and sweated to muzzle, with a smooth ramp and relieved for a moon sight. Quarter length rib with round point, fit with dovetailed express rear sight with three leaves, one standing, two folding, with the folding leaves marked "150" and "250", standing leaf with white line express line, signed behind standing leaf "RIGBY'S SPECIAL .416 BORE FOR BIG GAME". Band sweated halfway down barrel with sling bow mounted to eye. Heavy taper barrel with ".416 Rigby" on left shank, mid with "John Rigby & Co 13 - 19 Pensbury Place, London, SW8", right with British nitro proof for .416 Rigby date 2022, with serial number matching action; underside with import mark for Mauser USA between sling band and forearm tip. Mauser M98 double square bridge magnum action with Mauser information on left side, three position safety, and currently set up for turn-off scope mounts. Straddle floorplate, trigger guard with Rigby serial number. Deluxe Turkish walnut stock, darkly veined, with rich fiddlebacking throughout, point pattern checkering wrapped around the forearm and in two panels at pistol grip, beaded cheekpiece, and sling bow on stud at toe line. Case colored pistol grip cap with trap, red rubber recoil pad with covered screws. In appropriate Rigby slip with branded plastic case and Rigby cardboard shipping box, containing a Rigby leather folio with introductory letter, manual, registration card, and test target with three shots at 65 yards, shot with Norma 400 grain ammo, on July 14th, 2022, and signed by Jamie Holland. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the the factory original finishes throughout with some very minor scattered handling marks, most notable some dings and a long impression on left side of forearm tip. Mechanically fine, bore excellent, bright and shiny with some minor firing residue, likely from proof. Accessories fine. This is great example in the classic African cartridge.
