(M) U.S. FIELD TRIALS SIG-SAUER M17 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL.

Seeking a replacement for the Beretta M9, the XM17 Modular Handgun System competition was held jointly by the US Army and Air Force, ultimately selecting the Sig-Sauer P320 as the new M17 modular pistol. The contract was awarded in early 2017, with initial field trial issue to the 101st Airborne later that year. This military issued example is dated September 2017 on the inside of the frame and falls into the correct military issue "TF" serial number prefix block, the fire control group also "U.S." marked. The gun is as standard for the military contract with flat dark earth slide and textured polymer frame. The controls also finished in flat dark earth which was subsequently changed to black for further military contracts. The slide is fitted with 3-dot night sights and is also cut for an rmr sight. Rear grip strap has a military "B11" identification number added in marker. CONDITION: Very good, in honest military field used condition. Slide shows some expected high edge wear and powder soiling. Frame likewise has some scuffs and signs of use. Good, crisp bore showing well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. An important piece of modern military history.
