This is one of the very few (perhaps only two) Mark III models of this machine gun in the National Firearms Act registry which are registered as Pre-86 dealer samples. The Ulimax 100 was tested by the Marine Corps as a competitor to the Squad Automatic Weapon. This near mint specimen comes with its original box and had the original factory preservative grease on it when this cataloger first saw it. It includes in addition to the buttstock, one 100 round drum magazine. Other accessories are being offered in this auction as a separate lot. The Ultimax machine gun was designed in the 1970’s with particular attention to reducing recoil. It utilizes a short stoke gas piston system and no buffer. This allows the gun to be very compact and light with obvious advantages. This Mark III model incorporates a quick-change barrel and is the “Ultimate Ultimax” for the shooter/collector. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent in original shipping box. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. Museum quality specimen which is an important example of a firearm considered for modern U.S. Military use. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL. JWK 2019-10-79
