Highly popular and sought after M3 “Grease Gun” as manufactured by Guide Lamp for use during World War II. This specimen is covered with vintage era back paint, as was common practice by the British when they received these through the Lend-Lease program. Accessories include one new-in-box bolt still in its sealed grease paper wrapper, seven original 30 round magazines, and two green canvas M3 marked ammo pouches. Typical “Guide” on left side of magazine housing with crossed cannons arsenal marking. Also typical Guide Lamp markings on underside of trigger guard “B. G. R. -GL- B 301456” and on action housing “G.L. 0153432”. The M3 cocks by the firer opening the ejection port cover, then actuating a lever on the left side of the receiver to withdraw the bolt to the rear. The M3 was a contemporary successor to the Thompson machine gun during World War II as a less costly, and more rapidly produced machine gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original black enamel finish showing wear to a grey patina at the high edges. Magazines range from fine to extremely fine. Bore is very fine, shiny and bright but with a ring about 1.25 " from the muzzle. This does not affect serviceability or shoot-ability. Bolt is also is very fine. Mechanics are crisp and positive. This is a full-auto only machine gun. The Grease gun is a highly sought collectors item for both the World War II and shooting enthusiast. This is an attractive piece from the World War II era.
