This is a Bren Mark II machine gun manufactured in 1943 as indicated by the markings on the right side of the receiver. Four original 30 round magazines, an original sling, and Canadian army Manual are included. The Bren gun is generally accepted to be one of the best light to medium machine guns of World War II and is particularly popular with collectors and recreational shooting enthusiasts. Electronic NFA registry indicates “BRITAIN (OR ENGLAND)” in the manufacturer’s block. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine smooth grey original finish with some very light pitting on the left side of the receiver with finish thinning to a gray patina at the high edges. Wood has some light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. This is a particularly fine condition specimen showing the character of genuine field use, and has a particular appeal to this cataloger for this reason. Bren guns are uncommon in the NFA registry due in large part to their long service history in the British Empire and Commonwealth resulting in relatively few finding their way to the United States prior to the Amnesty of 1968.
