(N) FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH "660" CODE "40" DATE MP-40 MACHINE GUN (CURIO & RELIC).

This MP-40 machine gun was manufactured during the first year of official MP-40 production at Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The top of the lower assembly is stamped "MP40 / 660/ 40", together with Steyr's "bnz" code and "(Eagle) / 623" waffenamts present on the left side of the receiver. Additional Steyr "(Eagle) / 623" waffenamts are present on most exterior components. Receiver is fitted with an early flat side magazine housing that features a fully checkered magazine release button. Matching numbered bolt with provision for sliding lock piece which locks the bolt forward in the closed position, but this sliding piece as well as spring, ball-bearing, and retention pin are not present. These are obtainable pieces which never had serial numbers applied. No firing pin present. No magazine present. Visible numbers are matching on this gun, including, receiver tube, barrel, bolt, telescoping mainspring assembly, rear sight assembly, front sight hood, lower assembly and swing out shoulder assembly. Electronic NFA Registry indicates "STEYR DAIMLER PUCH AG" as the manufacturer. CONDTION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent with some thinning to the finish in some areas to a pleasing patina. Bore is extremely fine to near excellent, shiny and bright. Bakelite furnishings have some light handling marks. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A very rare and desirable first year of production Steyr MP-40 machine gun in great condition. Only needs some easily obtainable components to be among the desirable of its kind. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2026-05-26.
