Marked “FN” within an oval over “HERSTAL” on left side of receiver with numerous original stock numbers on various parts, and “Gun South Inc. Birmingham, AL" on right side of receiver. The “Mini-mi” machine gun derives its name from the French translation of “Mini machine gun”. Currently the standard Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) of the United States and other countries, this model is innovative and may utilize either a belt or magazine ammunition feeding system. It is gas piston operated and fires from an open bolt, utilizes a rotary bolt locking system, and also features a quick detachable chrome lined barrel, bipod, carrying handle, and flip-up loop shoulder stock rest as well as rail for mounting a variety of sighting systems. Currently it has a ELCAN scope mounted on the top cover. As a pre-86 dealer sample, this gun can be retained privately when an active FFL/SOT dealer in a "sole proprietor" status relinquishes their license, subject to any state and local restrictions, and upon BATF approval. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine to near excellent original finish. It has been fired but not very much. Green verdigris in the bird cage flash hider. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face also extremely fine to near excellent. There are fewer than 100 of these guns in the National Firearms Act (NFA) registry in the United States as Pre-May 86 dealer’s samples, and only one transferable specimen. Truly an outstanding battle tested “state of the art” light machine gun, versatile and fun to shoot as well as being very effective. This gun is a pre-May 1986 dealer sample currently on an ATF Form 3 at Morphy’s annotated as “LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE”. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE AS A PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE ONLY TO ACTIVE CURRENT FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 ONLY.
