This Soviet Russian PPSh-41 machine was manufactured in 1945 by the Vyatskie Polyany factory as indicated by the star within the shield marking. This is one of the major manufacturers of this machine gun during World War II. The year of manufacture is visible directly below this marking. Visible serial numbers appear matching on upper receiver, lower assembly tang, trigger guard, and upon close examination, one can see them on the left side of the stock as well, and even on the right side of the bolt. Barrel serial number does not match. One 71 round drum magazine is included. Although over five million of these guns were manufactured in Soviet Russia, they are a rather scarce as a fully transferable machine gun in the National Firearms Act registry. This particular specimen was captured from a Chinese soldier in Korea according to the hand written inscription on the bottom of homemade display stand. Inscription reads: “Sgt. Stan Jones (svc #) 1st Division / 1st Marine Air Wing? 1950-1953 “ – I bought this Burp Gun from a marine corps Sgt who took it from a young Chinaman. He said the fellow did not need it anymore!”. The stand has a U.S. Marine Corps patch affixed with attractive gold colored tacks. Included with this lot is the original amnesty registration form showing Hiram Stanton Jones of California as the original registrant. This same form also indicates this gun was registered as a deactivated gun with a welded up chamber. Hence the replacement barrel in the now “live” gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished. Wood stock has also been lightly sanded and refinished. Drum has about 80% remaining of flaking black paint over brown patina, and follower is not in position within. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is extremely fine and in the white. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A great gun for the discerning machine gun collector as it was used by enemy forces across several major conflicts, and ammunition remains plentiful and available in this country. A great find with an entertaining provenance! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
