This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/17/2021
DLO registered sideplate Model 1917A1 Browning water-cooled machine gun with steam condensing hose, 16 250-round cloth belts, Model 1918 cloth belt loader in box, canvas gun cover, and two cardboard boxes of 2,000 each Israel 7.62 links. These links are most desirable due to their versatility for use in multiple calibers. Reproduction brass water fill cap and drain cap. No cork or chain present on gun, but there is a spare bail and oval chain as well as two Vickers type brass water fill caps, and an original cork stopper for the steam port included with this lot. Also steel a water fill and drain hole reaming tool. Gun is marked on right sideplate as “MAN’FD by Rock Island Arsenal” above “DOUGLAS L. OLEFINGER STAMFORD CT U.S.A.” Bolt is unmarked on top. Trunnion is steel. Handgrip is all-metal type with spring retaining clip at the base. No provision for muzzle attachment on the muzzle bearing indicates this as a classic World War II type configuration gun. One sealed case of 480 rounds of linked U.S. .30-06 M2 ammunition is included with this lot. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent green parkerized refinish upon remanufacture. Painted green band around water jacket just forward of trunnion. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. This gun may well be unfired since remanufacture. It is that nice! The Browning water-cooled machine gun is very distinctive and popular on the range. It would be pretty difficult to upgrade the condition of this specimen. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2021-11-008
