Thomas Alva Edison recorded sounds onto a wax cylinder then had a stylus following the grooves which enabled the sounds to resonate through a horn, named the Edison standard phonograph. Model: C. Serial number: 628127. The phonograph's success was pushing the music boxes out of business, though Edison had not intended its original use for entertainment. Its features include a wind up motor, an oak wood rotating lever with the cylinders, also called Amberols, playing 2/4 minute songs. Two horns are provided as well as 23 Amberols or cylinder records. No cover. Shows signs of aging but is in very good condition, functioning properly. Phonograph measures 12-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" wide x 8-1/2" deep. Small horn measures 14" tall x 7" diameter. Big horn measures 32" tall x 22" diameter. Each cylinder measures 4-1/2" tall x 2-3/4" deep.
