Lot #2041:
ATTRACTIVE BRONZE MOUNTED SCOTTISH REGIMENTAL DIRK OF THE 71ST HIGHLANDERS BY WILKINSON.
Circa late 18th-early 19th century Scottish Revival. This Highland dirk is much finer than other examples encountered from this period. The blade is superbly etched with the monarch's crown and Regimental symbol for the 71st Light Infantry. Blade is further etched with numerous battle honors of the 71st including Waterloo. Blade is etched with the maker's name "HENRY / WILKINSON / PALL MALL / LONDON". The mounts are finely cast and chased in relief. A pleasing patina has taken over the mounts which compliments the muted gilding. The knife and fork en suite with carved ebony grips in rope design and cairngorm stones. The blade remains bright with legible battle honors and motifs and only exhibits minor blemishes throughout. The utensils are slightly loose. CONDITION: Very good.
