George Baker and Samuel Troll were well-known creators of music boxes who merged their independent companies in 1874 into G. Baker-Troll & Co. The partnership was a very fruitful one and resulted in a range of music boxes of the utmost quality, featuring most skillfully crafted mechanisms of extraordinary sound quality combined with marvelous cabinets. This example of their craftsmanship shows a beautiful burl inlay cabinet with cylinder drawer holding two extra cylinders. The Piano Forte mechanism produces a rich and wonderful sound. Placed on a period walnut table, this Baker-Troll music box could be the center piece of any music box collection. Showing some age to the cabinet and on chip in the base that could easily be repaired.
