This is an absolutely stunning Paillard Vaucher Fils Saints-Croix music box in burl wood cabinet and mixed wood with mother-of-pearl inlay. On August 8, 1870, Amedee Paillard of the well known Paillard music box family in Sainte-Croix Switzerland, was granted a US patent No. 105,972, for what collectors know today as the revolver box. This type of box is equipped with a rotating mechanism that can hold multiple cylinders, each playing multiple tunes. Where most revolver boxes have 3 or 4 cylinders, this Paillard has 6, playing 8 tunes each, giving the owner 48 tunes for their listening pleasure. Equipped with six 18" cylinders and bells, this wonderful music box has a deep rich and enjoyable sound when played. Has all 59 tune sheets, which are commonly missing. Condition shows light wear to the cabinet, compete interior with working bells. All with a matching table in Burl wood. One of the most marvelous examples of the Paillard family's craftsmanship.
