These desktop lighters came in many forms, this one being of an African American gentleman, mounted on a claw foot base with attached ashtray. There is a compartment in the back of the gentleman's head, where cotton and kerosene would go and a wick would protrude from the cigar in his mouth, which would provide a perpetual light for the owner's cigar as they sat at their desk. CONDITION: It shows an aged brass finish to the bronze, with no chips, breaks or repairs. It retains the original kerosene compartment lid and original cigar protruding from his mouth.
