CAILLE CAIL-O-SCOPE STEREO DROP CARD ARCADE MACHINE WITH “OSTRICH FARM” MARQUEE
Rare Caille Cail-O-Scope stereo drop card arcade machine, a highly visual early coin-operated amusement viewer featuring an attractive “Ostrich Farm” advertising marquee. Manufactured by the well-known Caille Brothers / Caille Bros. firm, this machine represents the early penny arcade era, when mechanical viewers, stereoscopic attractions, and coin-operated amusement devices were major draws in arcades, amusement parks, fairs, and tourist destinations.
This example is especially appealing due to its Ostrich Farm theme, a subject with strong early California amusement and roadside-attraction character. The machine offers excellent display presence, with its tall cabinet form, plated metal legs and hardware, decorative marquee, and classic arcade viewing format. Machines of this type were designed to attract attention, accept a coin, and allow the viewer to enjoy a changing stereo card or drop-card style image presentation.
The machine is reported to operate incredibly well, with strong functionality and an enjoyable viewing experience. It presents beautifully and would be an outstanding addition to any collection of early coin-operated machines, penny arcade equipment, amusement devices, Victorian/Edwardian entertainment pieces, or California attraction memorabilia.
Condition: Showing an older restoration to the cabinet with new stain and finish. Metal components, including the legs, have been newly plated. Marquee advertising “Ostrich Farm” has been replaced. Front locks are new, and the cord has been replaced. Keys are present. Overall, the machine presents in excellent restored display condition and is reported to work very well.
A scarce and highly decorative early arcade machine with tremendous crossover appeal, combining coin-op collecting, amusement history, stereoscopic viewing, and early Ostrich Farm attraction subject matter.
