A Sheffield-made, medium-sized, clip point Bowie knife made for the American market circa 1850s - 1860s. Knife has a full tang, and exhibits etched left hand side panel with the very uncommon "GOOD AS GOLD." Ricasso is stamped, "CAST STEEL / 3557." Slab horn handles are held in place with 4 small silver pins. Bolster and thin cross guard are also of German silver. Knife retains original thin red Moroccan leather scabbard with German silver throat with belt stud. CONDITION: Very good. Original factory polish on the blade. No edge sharpening observed, with only light handling scratches and frosting overall. One very light nick on the cutting edge near the tip. Scabbard shows an approximate 2" separation near the tip.
