Mid to third quarter 19th century. The bronze frame comprised of solid rods with spiral twist supports and pierced scrollwork centering a rectangular hinged sloping baise-lined compartment with front lid that opens on hinges supported by linked chains joined to springs. The lid is carved and etched with intricate foliate and floral designs within a bobbin and dart border. The easel is raised on trestle form legs joined by pierced floral lattice work above a turned bronze stretcher, raised on out-swept feet cast as duck's heads joined to brass casters. The easel retains original bronze lock, key absent. A rare example with Art Nouveau influenced design. This lot is accompanied by a hand tooled heavy leather folio or book cover. Easel is 38" tall, 28" wide and 18-1/2" deep when closed. It has the original unburnished surface, original baize lining. Some slightly bent elements, notably rear legs. Overall, very good condition.

This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.

Item Dimensions: 28" x 18 - 1/2" x 38".
